Humidity measurement and particle measurement in cleanrooms in the pharmaceutical industry
In addition to specifications and recommendations regarding particle size and concentration according to DIN EN ISO 14644, as well as VDI 2083 Part 3, cleanrooms must comply with various other GMP guidelines, such as the humidity content in the ambient air.
To ensure a stable and constant climate during the production of sensitive products, the measurement of the relative room humidity is unavoidable. Along with other variables, it is one of the standard parameters in terms of constant air quality in cleanrooms.
Among other things, various medications, as well as vaccines, are very sensitive to excessive relative humidity. Here, it is not only important not to exceed a certain threshold value about relative humidity, but the air humidity must also be kept at a constant level to always be able to guarantee the same quality of the goods produced.
CS residual humidity sensors not only measure the humidity content safely and reliably in the compressed air line, but they can also measure reliably in the room and display several other humidity parameters in addition to the dew point, such as relative humidity [%rh], absolute humidity [g/m3], the degree of humidity [g/kg], or the percentage of humidity [PPM].
Likewise, the particle concentration in the cleanroom supply air can be checked and controlled by means of a particle counter. Here, special specifications apply about the size and concentration of the particles.
